She has flourished politically, despite a long-running feud with Hartford Mayor Eddie A. Perez, whom she unsuccessfully challenged in 2007. She is a married to a political power broker, Ramon L. Arroyo. Gonzalez, who sometimes strays from fellow Democrats, was one of only 17 House Democrats to vote against a same-sex marriage bill.

2008 Financial Disclosure: Gonzales reported rental income from four residential properties in Hartford. Her husband reported collecting a pension from the city of Hartford, state unemployment benefits and rental income from a residential property in Hartford.
She filed a confidential addendum listing any debts exceeding $10,000. She declined to release the addendum, as is her choice under the law.
A note on financial disclosure: Every spring, officials are required to disclose the ownership of real estate, the source of any income exceeding $1,000 in the previous calendar year and securities worth more than $5,000. They also are required to file an addendum in which they report any debt of more than $10,000; this may by law be kept confidential.

Gonzalez, who sometimes strays from fellow Democrats, was one of only 17 House Democrats to vote against a same-sex marriage bill.Gozales has been fined twice in recent years by the Office of State Ethics -- in 2006 for violating a law against a candidate being present when voters fill out absentee ballots and again in 2009 for omitting information on her financial disclosure reports.
