Election History

Ayala was elected in 2006, unseating three-term Democrat Lydia Martinez in a primary, 707 to 454. In 2008, he prevailed in a rematch. He won renomination and re-election unopposed in 2010, and was cross-endorsed by the Working Families Party.

Background

A Bridgeport native, Ayala teaches social studies in the city schools. He previously served on the Bridgeport City Council, including terms as majority leader and council president.

Financial Disclosure

Ayala reported wages from the Bridgeport schools. He owned no real estate and no securities.He filed a confidential addendum listing any debts exceeding $10,000.
